Week 9 Recap: Memorable Finish as Western N.Y. Gets Underway

BINGHAMTON, NY (May 13, 2024) - A last-minute equalizer made for a memorable opener.

Nick Slusser scored in the 90th minute as Binghamton FC earned a 1-1 draw against United Elite Krajisnik FC in the historic opening match of the NISA Nation Western N.Y. Region match at Visions Field on Saturday, May 11.

Cole Stephens scored in the first half for United Elite Krajisnik FC (0-1-0 overall), the long-standing Utica, N.Y.-based club. Slusser, a goalkeeper, came forward and scored from a corner kick as Binghamton FC (0-1-0) salvaged a point at home.

Also on Saturday, David Guzman and Jose Gonzalez scored in the first half to lead Battleborn FC to a 3-2 victory over Bay Area United FC at Bishop Monague High School in Reno, NV, Kevin Salto had two goals as ASC Silicon Valley beat Club Tepa 4-2 at Sequoia High School's Tranmere Stadium in Redwood City, CA, and Bryan Alvarez had a goal as Olympiacos CA topped Irvine Zeta FC II 3-1 at Biola University's Al Barbour Field in La Mirada, CA.

On Sunday, Andres Jimenez netted three as newly-rebranded Silicon Valley Rush (formerly Silicon Valley Galaxy) scored a 5-1 win over Laguna FC at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.
